Lately

Last week was utterly mediocre – the kind where nothing dreadful happens but nothing is going to plan either. With the exception of a great dinner with some girls from my old office and a swim with another good friend, it was a week of missed phone calls, burnt pastry, lack of sleep and soggy sandwiches. I couldn’t seem to shake it off either so I gave up on Friday afternoon and went home to watch Private Practice (no judgment people – I can’t help myself!) and eat buttery toast.
Things are looking up though! My boyfriend and I spent yesterday on a very plush boat on Sydney Harbour celebrating the birthday of one of his good friends and we topped off the day with dinner at Pizza Mario. Have you been? The food is wonderful and reasonably priced and the space itself is charming but low-key. I must have been a dozen times. I feel silly to recommend a restaurant on the back of its salad but it truly is one of my favourite things – it’s only butter lettuce and heirloom tomatoes but I could eat it every day for the rest of my life. The zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese and anchovies are amazing too, as is the stewed rhubarb with mascarpone (I should also mention that the pizza is the best!).
By the time we finished dinner I felt so full and happy I was convinced that this week will be much better than last! In anticipation, here are a few happy links from around the web.
I love coffee but tea will always have my heart. Love this video about how to brew the perfect pot.
Really keen to see this film. Would love to see Delicacy too, if only because Audrey Tautou is divine (the reviews haven’t exactly been glowing).
Dinner tonight.
This tote bag makes me smile every time I look it at. I’m trying to figure out a way to justify buying it…
Fittingly, as Rebecca says, this is one of the happiest songs on earth. I’ve listened to it so many times this week! I hope The Lumineers make it to Australia some day.
Have a fabulous week everyone xo
